Hi! My name is Carmella and I'm a writer/educator with a serious case of wanderlust and a deep love for tropical fruits. My writing has received the Charles Johnson Award for Fiction, AWP Intro Journal Award honorable mention, and a Pushcart Prize nomination. My haiku about starfruits can be found at a Miami bus stop and stamped on a sidewalk.

I have a BA in Environmental Studies from Amherst College and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of South Florida. I taught English in Cartegena de Indias, Colombia on a Fulbright fellowship and have been awarded residencies at the Art Farm in Nebraska and Vermont Studio Center.

I write SCROLL SANITY, a weekly newsletter about staying sane in a digital world. I am currently seeking representation for a researched memoir about my year-long social media sabbatical and a YA novel set in the shady corners of Miami.
